Anti-Carceral Care Certification

“Therapists have the framework but aren’t principled in practice and that’s the problem.”

Who This Training is For:

  • Licensed mental health providers who want to divorce their practice from the carceral state
  • Clinicians who question or oppose involuntary hospitalization and other coercive interventions
  • Therapists who critically examine child removal, family separation and foster care systems
  • Providers who understand systems of oppression and how they shape mental health care
  • Clinicians seeking alternative ways to facilitate healing rooted in anti-oppressive values, nuance and community

Doctors, teacher and other mandated reporters are welcome and the lens of this training is explicitly mental health-focused and taught by therapists.

Enrollment is open!

This program includes:

  • Lifetime access to monthly, informal, group supervision (which begins during the coursework) that is community-led with state-based breakout groups for regional legal questions.

  • One, 60-minute 1:1 coaching session with Raquel Savage & Soleil (Angie Gunn LCSW, CST, CSTS) to build your unique, abolitionist therapy practice.

  • Option to be added to our Anti-Carceral Care Provider Directory

Course sessions will tentatively take place on Wednesdays from 6:00-9:00pm Eastern for 10 weeks beginning in January 2027.
