"Une Femme est Une Femme" is a French New Wave film from 1960 directed by Jean-Luc Godard about Angéla, a woman determined to have a baby, and her reluctant lover, Émile, and his best friend Alfred, who openly declares his love for Angéla and persistently, but gently, courts her.

The tension between Angéla and Émile escalates into playful yet pointed conflict. Frustrated by Émile’s persistent refusal to give her a baby, Angéla briefly turns to Alfred in an attempt to take control of her desires. In the end, she and Émile reconcile, rekindling their relationship and the possibility of starting a family together. The film closes with a witty exchange that captures its central theme: when Émile calls her “infâme” (horrid), Angéla corrects him—“Non, je suis une femme” (“No, I am a woman”).
