Well we've got Christopher Abbott being a sick freak again! lmao. I knew nothing about Piercing before watching it besides what the little movie preview sentence said which was that a man plans to kill a SWer to satisfy his murderous urges. So that alone made me postpone watching this (I was supposed to review this in October) because I didn't want to see a movie where the SWer ends up brutally murdered with zero consequences. Alas, the script was flipped and the movie did not go how I thought it would! Regardless, the movie still did not score well on the Red Light Rules though.

Piercing scored 1/4 on The Red Light Rules test that assess portrayals of sex work in film. We created 4 questions to determine this:

  1. Does the film show an understanding of choice, circumstance, and/or coercion?
  2. Does the SWer interact with another person in a positive manner unrelated to SW?
  3. Does the SWer have a storyline, hobby, or interest outside of SW?
  4. Does the film have a happy and/or non-traumatic ending for the SWer? yes
